Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with caring for undifferentiated patients with illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. The department of outpatient and inpatient services deals with cases of Emergency, Trauma and Critical Care situation related to immediate life saving or life preserving effort.
It involves spontaneous decision making and carrying out of actions that are pivotal to prevent further degeneration of the patient's condition. An emergency physician is responsible for providing an immediate acknowledgement, evaluating and stabilizing adult and paediatric patients. The emergency physician is supported by a team of clinicians, surgeons and nurses well trained to work under high stress and time-sensitive situations.
Unity Hospital boasts of a Level 1 Tertiary comprehensive A and E centre equipped to deal with any type of urgent life-threatening condition. Working round the clock, our physicians have access to highly advanced and accurate laboratory and furthermore radiology tests in any life-threatening situation.
The Centre is manned by ACLS doctors and nurses and we follow the International Based Standards and Evidence-Based Protocol. This ensures that care starts even before the patient reaches the hospital, hence, improving the chances of survival.
